Travel through the Polar Circle and the Antarctic Peninsula, where humpback, minke, and fin whales roam and every day brings a new adventure. From Zodiac cruising and shore landings to wildlife encounters, guided walks, and optional polar diving, this expedition offers a rare chance to experience one of Earth’s most spectacular wilderness regions.

Above all, this voyage is about sharing Antarctica together. Some guests will discover the world beneath the ice, while others enjoy shore excursions, Zodiac rides, photography, wildlife watching, and the breathtaking landscapes of the Antarctic Peninsula all part of the same incredible journey!

For divers & non-divers

This event is not only for divers it is for the whole community! The heart of this journey is bringing people together to enjoy Antarctica in the way that suits them best, whether that means diving below the surface or experiencing the landscape, wildlife, and landings above the water.

Non-divers can fully enjoy the expedition through Zodiac cruises, shore excursions, guided walks, photography, wildlife watching, and time on deck taking in the scenery. Divers have the rare opportunity to explore the underwater world of Antarctica, while non-divers remain just as much a part of the adventure.

It is also possible for divers to join shore and Zodiac excursions on days when they choose not to dive. This makes the voyage flexible, inclusive, and ideal for mixed groups of divers and non-divers traveling together.

Itinerary

📅 From 8 to 20 March 2028

• Day 1: The end of the world, the start of your journey

Your voyage begins in Ushuaia, Argentina. You board the vessel in this small town on Tierra del Fuego, famously called “The End of the World,” and sail through the mountain-fringed Beagle Channel

• Days 2–3: In the wake of polar explorers

As you cross the Drake Passage, you follow the route once taken by the great polar explorers. Expect cool sea air, rolling ocean swells, and the chance to spot seabirds and even whales as you head south.

After crossing the Antarctic Convergence, where colder Antarctic waters meet warmer sub-Antarctic seas, both the scenery and wildlife begin to change. You may encounter wandering albatrosses, grey-headed albatrosses, black-browed albatrosses, light-mantled sooty albatrosses, cape pigeons, southern fulmars, Wilson’s storm petrels, blue petrels, and Antarctic petrels.

• Days 4–10: Late summer in Antarctica

Late summer is an extraordinary time to explore the Antarctic Peninsula. Humpback whales are highly active as they feed on krill before migrating north, and penguin chicks begin to fledge, creating constant activity on the beaches while leopard seals patrol nearby waters.

Possible landing sites and highlights may include:

• Livingston Island: Gentoo and chinstrap penguins, southern giant petrels, and elephant seals.
• Deception Island: A dramatic volcanic caldera with a natural harbor, historic whaling station remains, and a variety of birdlife.
• Neko Harbour: Towering glaciers, dramatic mountain scenery, and the chance to set foot on the Antarctic continent.
• Paradise Bay: Zodiac cruising through ice-filled waters with excellent whale-watching potential.
• Crystal Sound: A beautifully ice-packed passage leading south across the Polar Circle.
• Melchior Islands: Rich in icebergs, seals, whales, and excellent diving opportunities.

Conditions in the Drake Passage, Antarctic weather, wildlife activity, and ice conditions determine the exact route and timing, and final decisions are made by the expedition leader in line with local operating guidance.

• Days 11–12: Northbound across familiar seas

As you sail back across the Drake Passage, the seabirds that greeted you on the journey south return once more. By now, the ocean, the wildlife, and the rhythm of expedition life feel more familiar.

• Day 13: Return to Ushuaia

Your expedition comes to an end as you disembark in Ushuaia. You return home with remarkable memories of Antarctica and the shared experience of reaching one of the most remote places on Earth.

The base price for this trip is € 10.150,-* for a place in a shared Quadruple Porthole cabin. From there, you can choose to upgrade your cabin and/or add polar diving to make the journey your own.

If you’re not quite ready for polar diving yet, we’ll work with you to create a personalised plan. Together, we’ll assess your current experience and put together a package that helps you build the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to reach the level required for polar diving. 

Payment terms

• 30% deposit is required to confirm your reservation. This deposit is non-refundable and secures your place on the trip.
• remaining 70% balance must be paid no later than 8 December 2027.
• For bookings made after 8 December 2027, full payment is required at the time of booking.

Please note: Your reservation is subject to cabin availability and, if applicable, diving spot availability. We will confirm the availability before finalizing your booking. If no cabin is available, your deposit will be refunded in full.

Polar diving

Each dive offers something different, from sculptural ice to small marine creatures and the chance to observe wildlife in one of the most remote and beautiful environments on Earth. Throughout the journey, experienced polar guides support you closely to help make every dive safe, comfortable, and memorable.

This is a rare opportunity to experience Antarctica in a way very few people ever will peaceful, powerful, and unforgettable.

Diver requirements

• Certified SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent.
• Minimum of 30 logged dry suit dives.
• Mandatory dry suit and cold-water diving experience.
• Valid medical certificate.
• Travel insurance with Antarctic coverage.
• Valid diving insurance with Antarctic coverage.

Dive limits and equipment

• Maximum of 2 dives per day from Zodiac boats.
• Maximum depth of 20 metres.
• 12L air-filled bottles and weights included.
• Two separate first stages.

Each diver must bring their own gear and spares. Gear and spares rental are available.

During the dives, you may encounter penguins, fur seals, and possibly leopard seals. In some areas rich in krill, you may also find abundant marine life including sea squirts, squat lobsters, spider crabs, soft corals, anemones, peacock worms, dogfish, sea snails, jellyfish, kelp walls, sea butterflies, sea urchins, and several species of starfish.

Check dive

The first dive of the voyage will be a check dive. This allows you to test your gear, confirm weighting, and demonstrate to the dive leader that you have the experience required to take part in the dive program.

If the dive leaders determine that a diver does not meet the necessary experience level, that diver may be excluded from the diving program. In that case, dive-related fees are not reimbursed.

Weather and expedition conditions

This itinerary has been designed with care and local expertise, but nature always leads the way. Weather, ice, and wildlife conditions may require changes during the voyage, and flexibility is a core part of every true expedition experience.

All itineraries are for guidance only. Landings are subject to site availability, permissions, environmental considerations, and operational conditions, and the expedition leader always determines the final plan.

Passenger responsibility

Each passenger is responsible for complying with all local rules and requirements, including but not limited to immigration regulations, vaccination requirements, testing obligations, and insurance requirements relevant to Argentina and other applicable destinations. Antarctic visitors are also expected to follow guidance designed to protect wildlife, protected areas, scientific research, and the environment.

Cancellation policy

The 30% deposit is non-refundable.

If the participant cancels, any refund of additional amounts paid depends on the cancellation date, non-refundable third-party costs, and whether the place can be resold.

Cancellations after the final payment deadline, no-shows, and partial attendance are non-refundable.

Separate costs paid by the participant, such as flights, hotels, visas, insurance, transfers, and other personal expenses, are not refundable by DIB Diving.
