Diving in Zeeland 🐠

We had an incredible day of diving, starting our journey at Nieuwe Kerkweg in Zeeland. Often praised as the most beautiful dive site in the Netherlands 🇳🇱, it certainly has a reputation to uphold. Although visibility is always a gamble in Dutch waters—and today wasn’t the best 😅—we still enjoyed exploring the rich marine life and vegetation hidden in the green murk 🪸🦀.

Our second stop was the Zeelandbrug for a tidal dive 🌉. It was high tide at the time, which didn’t bring crystal-clear water, but the dive was still spectacular. We spotted plenty of small fish 🐟, and diving around the massive bridge pillars remains a unique and thrilling experience 🤿.

Since our route home to Limburg took us through Antwerp 🚗, we made a final stop at the Put van Ekeren—a freshwater lake ideal for rinsing the salt from our gear 💧. Visibility here is generally excellent, and today it was spot on👌. From the platform, we swam out and descended into the put. As it’s still early in the season and many of us were in wetsuits 🥶, we didn’t linger too long in the colder depths. We gradually worked our way back to the warmer surface waters 🌞, wrapping up the dive with a round of weight checks⚖️😄.

To finish the day, and driven by serious dive-induced hunger (even the stroopwafels between dives didn’t cut it) 🧇, we headed out for a Mexican-style dinner 🌮. The entire group was set on spare ribs—until the waiter casually informed us, “We don’t have those anymore.” 💔 After a moment of heartbreak and some strategic menu re-evaluation 🤔, we settled on other options, filled our bellies 🍽️, and hit the road home—ready for a long, well-earned night’s sleep 😴.

All in all, a day full of laughter, learning, and unforgettable dives 💙. Can’t wait for the next one! 🐬
