Outdoors Freediving 🧜‍♀️

June 8, 2026

Back in open water at last. After the winter break, this session marked the first outdoor freediving of the season and it felt good to be back. With warm surface temperatures and that familiar drop into cooler layers below, it was the perfect way to ease back into depth.

We spent about an hour in the water, keeping things relaxed and focused on getting back into the rhythm of diving. After time away over the winter, the goal wasn’t to push limits, but to reconnect with the feeling.

At the surface, the water was a comfortable 23°C. But as soon as you passed through the thermocline, the temperature dropped to around 15°C.

All three freedivers explored a mix of disciplines during the session, taking their time to find their technique and flow again. Whether it was equalisation, body position, or just relaxing into the dive, each descent helped bring back that familiarity.

There’s always something special about that first session back outdoors. The depth feels different, the environment less controlled than a pool, but also more rewarding. You could really feel everyone settling in more with each dive.
